Residents of Omsk have complained that snow in the 300th Anniversary of Omsk Park has turned gray-black. Corresponding photos and videos appeared on the Telegram channels ChP Omsk and Avariyny Omsk. The footage shows that the snow cover is almost black on top, but white underneath. This is despite the fact that the park is located in the Left Bank residential district, far from industrial enterprises.

It is evident that the ash covered the snow recently — underneath it is white

«Where did all this soot come from?» the post author wonders. «In the 300th Anniversary Park, where there are no cars nearby, absolutely all the snow is covered in gray-black soot. The video and photos were taken in the middle of the park. And we breathe these emissions. The photos don»t even convey how black the snow has become, I repeat, in a large park with no cars. Where did all this soot come from?«
The situation was commented on by the Ministry of Natural Resources. The department did not explain why the snow in the park turned gray-black.
«To improve the environmental situation, active work is underway with enterprises in the city of Omsk. Many of them are being modernized with more environmentally friendly equipment, and are also participants in the quota system for emissions. These measures are aimed at reducing emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere of Omsk.»
The department also told residents where to complain about emissions. The Center for Environmental Monitoring receives reports of environmental violations by phone at 37-80-21, as well as via Telegram at 8-923-685-56-31.
Earlier, we reported that Omsk residents complained about a chemical smell.
