Udmurtia resident sentenced to 18 years in prison for treason
A 44-year-old man from Mozhga in Udmurtia has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for treason after making contact with Ukrainian military intelligence through a popular messaging app.

The Supreme Court of Udmurtia has sentenced a 44-year-old resident of Mozhga, who was accused of state treason. This was reported by the combined press service of the republic«s courts.
According to available information, in autumn 2025, the man used his personal account on one of the popular messaging apps to contact a representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. The Mozhga resident was tasked with gathering information that could be used against the security of the Russian Federation.
A criminal case was initiated under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, «State Treason, that is, espionage committed by a citizen of the Russian Federation.»
The Supreme Court of Udmurtia sentenced the Mozhga resident to 18 years of deprivation of liberty, with the first 3 years to be served in prison, and the remainder of the sentence in a special regime colony, along with a fine of 100,000 rubles (approximately $1,000 at current rates) and restriction of freedom for 1 year and 6 months.
