Thrown into grave and burned alive: three men face murder trial
Three men will be tried in Zabaikalsky Krai on charges of brutally murdering a 41-year-old resident of the town of Mogocha. This was reported on January 26 on the website of the regional prosecutor«s office.
The deceased was initially listed as missing. Later, his remains were found in a grave. Investigators have charged with the murder a 30-year-old resident of Zabaikalsky Krai, a 47-year-old resident of Khabarovsk Krai, and a 43-year-old resident of Krasnoyarsk Krai. As reported by Chita.Ru citing a source in law enforcement, the reason for such a brutal act could have been an ordinary quarrel. The suspects voiced their versions during interrogations. Allegedly, they told their victim to «behave properly», lead a healthy lifestyle, and not drink alcohol, but later the murdered Zabaikalsky resident did not want to do so.
Three acquaintances are accused of murder committed with particular cruelty by a group of persons in a premeditated conspiracy. The criminal case was investigated by investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Zabaikalsky Krai. The indictment was approved by the deputy prosecutor of the region, Alexey Radchenko.
According to the investigation, in the summer of 2023, the accused, who lived in Mogocha and one of whom worked as a gravedigger at the city cemetery, decided to kill a local resident due to personal animosity. By car, they brought the victim to the cemetery, threw the man into a dug but unclaimed grave, doused him with gasoline, and set him on fire.
After which the perpetrators began to fill the hole with soil in turns. The victim«s death occurred as a result of mechanical asphyxiation due to the closure of the airways by soil.
«The criminal case on this fact was initiated and solved at the beginning of 2025 after studying the materials on the victim»s disappearance and hearing the progress of his search at an interdepartmental operational meeting in the prosecutor«s office of Zabaikalsky Krai. Today it has been sent by the prosecutor»s office for consideration on the merits to the Zabaikalsky Krai Court,« the statement says.
