Perm meme figure jailed third time, seriously ill

Left — Shokolad after release; right — the same at 17, immediately after sentencing.
The figure behind the memes «Chocolate is not to blame for anything» and «The kid was headed for success — it didn’t work out, no luck», Perm resident Alexander Guseinov has landed in a penal colony for the third time. In 2005 he and accomplices were sentenced to real prison terms for murdering a taxi driver. And it was his accomplice Artyom Kataev who uttered the very line «Chocolate is not to blame for anything» to a journalist after the verdict. Now, in the colony, Shokolad has fallen seriously ill.
According to the Telegram channel Mash, Alexander Guseinov is serving a third term and has fallen ill with tuberculosis in the colony. The channel reports that Guseinov was last imprisoned in 2023 — first for robbery, then for thefts from stores. In the colony, Shokolad began complaining of a cough and chest pain. After examination, doctors found tuberculosis in the 37‑year‑old convict. He has now been transferred to a special facility in Perm Krai (Russia).
As a reminder, earlier we told Shokolad’s story in detail. In 2005 in Perm, a taxi driver was killed and his car stolen. Four accomplices were charged with the murder, among them the 17‑year‑old Shokolad. He received the lightest punishment — eight years in a colony. The accomplices — 19 and 10 years.
Alexander Guseinov served 5.5 years and was released on parole in 2011. Two months later, his mother was freed from a colony as well; she had been serving a sentence for drug distribution. While both were inside, they wrote one another letters of support.
«Mom wrote to me: “Sanya, don’t give up! This is prison. Be strong in spirit. Don’t let us down. Don’t break.” I wrote to her: “Everything is fine, Mom, I’ll be handsome. I love you”,» Shokolad recounted on the «Prison Podcast».
He also explained the origin of the nickname Shokolad in the same podcast interview: he had been called that since childhood for his strong tan. Guseinov learned about his popularity and the memes about him only in 2008.
Earlier we wrote, how the hero of the «Why him and not me?» meme lives now, Perm resident Daniil Shestakov.
