As reported by 56.RU, the robber is 23 years old. The young man burst into the salon, smashed the display case with a hammer in a matter of seconds, and escaped with boxes containing jewelry worth 1.8 million rubles (approximately $18,000 at current rates).

Police investigators detained the suspect shortly after the robbery and recovered some of the stolen jewelry.

The store employee was unable to do anything to help in this situation. Footage of the robbery was captured by surveillance cameras.

After the accused was detained promptly, part of the gold was seized from him, and another part he «successfully» lost while fleeing.

Previously convicted for theft, the Orsk resident this time «earned» another article of the criminal code — «Robbery» (Part 3 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), plus his «favorite» theft (Part 1 of Article 158) — during the investigation, investigators found out that a week earlier, the same man stole alcohol worth 11 thousand rubles (approximately $110 at current rates) from a store.

For the cumulative charges, he now faces up to 12 years in prison: the criminal case with the indictment has already been transferred to the Leninsky District Court of Orsk.

It is worth noting that in the same court several weeks ago, a sentence was announced for a 36-year-old previously unconvicted local resident who was accused of a robbery attack on the store «Nika». He committed the crime after a five-day drinking binge and did not even remember how he appeared before the seller with a knife.
