According to the investigation, between 2019 and 2024, the man stole more than 11 million rubles (approximately $122,200 at current rates) from residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Initially, he did not deliver paid goods, and then switched to a more sophisticated scheme.
The criminal began to pose as an employee of the Federal Protective Service (FSO). He promised one of the victims to change the preventive measure for her detained relative and influence the appointment of a judge in a criminal case, receiving a large deposit for this, which he spent on personal needs.
As investigators established, hiding behind the status of a fake FSO officer, the fraudster repeatedly deceived participants of the special military operation, extracting money from them under various pretexts.
The fraudulent scheme was uncovered by employees of the regional directorate of the Federal Security Service (FSB). Based on the collected evidence, the court issued a guilty verdict.
