A 49-year-old Igor Fedorov, a prisoner from «Black Dolphin», has appealed to the Orenburg Regional Court. The life-sentenced convict, who killed his entire family (murdering his father, grandfather, and grandmother), is demanding compensation for violations of detention conditions.

Fedorov claims that when he was admitted to IK-6 of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service in Orenburg Region, he had no illnesses, but last year a serious disease was diagnosed, and he believes this happened due to improper detention conditions. Because the disease requires expensive treatment, he is demanding that the colony pay 5 million rubles (approximately $55,600 at current rates).

The court of first instance found that since the disease was diagnosed, medications for treatment were identified, but Fedorov has not actually been provided with them. This is a violation of detention conditions, but the compensation turned out to be — 100 times less — 5 thousand rubles (approximately $56 at current rates), not 5 million. It is with this that the prisoner disagrees — his appeal will be heard in the regional court on February 5.

Also 56.RU reported, that after reconstruction, a legendary monument returned to «Black Dolphin», and the colony«s store for lifers became extremely popular with tourists and generates significant profit. And here — the story of a lifer who was sentenced at age 19 — he has become a prize-winner in icon painting competitions for the second time. Two more attempted to leave the colony on parole — both were denied.
