Details have emerged about the killing of Russian businessman Mikhail Yemelyanov in Thailand. As investigation established, the criminals killed the man on the day of his abduction, 7 January, but they continued to demand a ransom for his release from his relatives. This was reported by the Pattaya City Police Department.
“Mikhail Yemelyanov was killed on the very first day of his abduction, 7 January. Meanwhile, the criminals for almost two weeks after that date demanded a ransom of $120,000 from his relatives for his release, and then even increased the amount to $140,000,” — writes RIA Novosti citing police.
30-year-old Mikhail Yemelyanov went missing in Thailand on 7 January 2026. The man lost contact after a meeting with a business partner. On 1 February, police discovered the body, dismembered into five parts and buried in five shallow pits by a pond on the outskirts of Pattaya.
On the same day, in one of the hotels in Bangkok, police found and detained two suspects in the abduction and killing of Yemelyanov — Russian citizens, 35-year-old Yaroslav Demidov and 38-year-old Dmitry Maskalev. During interrogation, they denied involvement in the murder. From Bangkok, they were transported to a prison in Pattaya, where investigative actions are underway.
