Interrogation reveals pressure on Surgut girl in kidnapping case

During the interrogation, the detained 18-year-old girl from Surgut said that she received calls and threats from people who introduced themselves as law enforcement officers. This is reported by TASS citing the regional Investigative Committee.
«They said that her account was hacked and she might be in danger, and that she needed to come to Krasnoyarsk,» the news agency quotes an investigator«s representative.
In her testimony, the girl also said that the fraudsters contacted her via messenger and by phone. Previously, she was not acquainted with 14-year-old Nikolai Kaplia and had not even been in contact with him.
The preventive measure will be decided on January 25; currently, the investigation is looking for other participants in the crime.
Earlier, 14-year-old Nikolai Kaplia also gave testimony about his abduction. He said that he followed the instructions of fraudsters who also introduced themselves as law enforcement officers.
First, as reported by TASS, they informed him about the hacking of his «Gosuslugi» (state services portal) and began intimidating him by saying that the teenager was in danger.
Moreover, according to video published by investigators, the fraudsters intimidated the boy by saying that his older brother would be expelled from the educational institution and their family«s reputation would suffer.
Earlier, NGS24.RU reported that the 18-year-old girl from Surgut was detained the day before. She did not react in any way to the announcement of the reason for her detention.
14-year-old Nikolai Kaplia went missing on the evening of January 22. It was reported that from the settlement of Serebryany Bor, where he lives, the boy was taken away by a certain girl — referring to the 18-year-old from Surgut. They got into a taxi and left in an unknown direction.
Later, a ransom of 30 million rubles (approximately $316,000 at current rates) was demanded from Andrei Kaplia. Investigators initiated a criminal case for kidnapping, but also considered the version of fraudsters. On the evening of January 23, Nikolai and the girl were found.
