Ex-Boyfriend Strangles Girl in Lyublino, Turns Himself In

Law enforcement officers have detained a suspect in the murder of a girl in Moscow«s Lyublino district, according to the Investigative Committee. On 30 January, a 19-year-old man argued with her over their breakup and strangled his girlfriend in an apartment.

The next day, the man went to the police and told them what he had done. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on murder charges (Part 1, Article 105 of the Criminal Code). The young man will soon be formally charged and a pre-trial restriction will be chosen.

The victim was found in a house on Sovkhoznaya Street. According to media reports, she was 18 years old.

Updated. The Moscow Prosecutor«s Office specified that at around 17:30 on 30 January, the man came to the victim»s home to collect his belongings and try to repair their relationship. They argued, and he killed her.

As reported by REN TV, the victim worked for a charity and helped homeless animals. She lived in a special apartment where she cared for cats.

Before meeting with her ex-boyfriend, the girl told her mother, who tried to dissuade her. In response, the victim reportedly said that otherwise he would «make a scene» outside. According to a source, the accused had a balaclava with him and threw away his phone after the crime.

Earlier, in the south of Moscow, a mother drowned her five-year-old son in a bathtub. Alexandra Shalina confessed to law enforcement that she had long planned to kill the child. Furthermore, she had intended to kill her daughter but changed her mind.

The boy was buried in the village of Diveyevo in Nizhny Novgorod Region, where the Shalin family is known. In 2024, she was involved in a scandal when Alexandra«s daughter accused her stepfather of rape. He has been in custody ever since.
