The 49-year-old man was detained the day before, on February 3. His actions were classified as violation of traffic rules and vehicle operation rules by a person without a driver«s license, resulting in the death of two or more persons. Recall that the trailer of his truck crashed into a Gazelle van that had people inside, killing five.
Investigators clarified that the suspect was towing cargo in his car on a private order, but the trailer was not registered and not intended for high-speed highways. In addition, the trailer hitch was in a faulty condition.
The suspect has not had a driver«s license since 2023. He was deprived of his license for 18 months but did not get it back.
«I do not deny that I was involved in a road traffic accident. At present, I have nothing more to explain,» the driver said during interrogation.
According to the Krasnoyarsk Krai Prosecutor«s Office, the man was sent to pre-trial detention for 1.5 months. He will be charged in the near future.
In court, the man explained that it was all a matter of chance and that he bore no responsibility for the trailer. He considered the custody measure too harsh.
