A resident of Voronezh Region will be forced to pay an additional recycling fee for cars imported from abroad several years ago, amounting to over 900,000 rubles. The Voronezh man initially declared at customs that he was buying the cars for himself, so the recycling fee was calculated at the lower rate for individuals, according to the united press service of Voronezh Region courts.

The Gribanovsky District Court of Voronezh Region found that the defendant, from September 2022 to March 2023, applied to the customs post with applications for the issuance of vehicle passports and payment of the recycling fee for three cars. The man imported the vehicles into Russia allegedly for personal use, so the recycling fee was calculated at the rate for individuals.

However, the customs service later conducted an inspection and established that the cars were sold to third parties and registered by people unrelated to the defendant«s family. The conclusion was that the man bought the cars for resale, meaning he must pay the recycling fee at different rates.

As a result, the court recovered from the defendant for state revenue the amount of the recycling fee of 925,800 rubles (about $9,300 at current rates), a penalty of 509,174.57 rubles (approximately $5,100), and a state duty of 29,349.74 rubles (around $294).
