43-Year-Old Toyota Soarer Drives Like New in Vladivostok

The seller claims that the Toyota Soarer retains a modern appearance comparable to current vehicles.
A 1983 Toyota Soarer has been put up for sale in Vladivostok. Despite its age, the car is in good condition, but the price asked is not small — 1,250,000 rubles (approximately $12,500 at current rates), as stated in the ad on Drom.ru.
The Toyota Soarer features a coupe body and is classified as a Gran Turismo, meaning it is a high-speed vehicle intended for both comfortable cruising on public roads and racing competitions, highlighted by its seat design and spoiler.
Production of the model began in 1981, when it was presented at an auto show in the Japanese city of Osaka. It has inline six-cylinder engines with displacements of 2.0, 2.8, and 3.0 liters, rear-wheel drive, and technological innovations surprising for the time: an onboard computer with a touch panel for climate control, digital speedometer and tachometer, and more.
In total, Toyota released four generations of the Soarer, with the last one being a coupe-convertible. It bore a strong resemblance to the Lexus SC, and in 2025, after Lexus entered the Japanese market, the Soarer was discontinued.
The car offered for sale is well-preserved inside as well — all electronics are functional (multifunction steering wheel, power windows, sunroof), the seats are clean, and there is even a retractable armrest on the rear seats.
This rare example has had only two owners, including the current one, and for a fairly powerful car with 160 horsepower, it has a relatively low mileage — 180,000 kilometers (approximately 112,000 miles).
The seller also noted that the car has undergone a restyling, has no rust, and has never been in an accident. Whether it will find a buyer among racing enthusiasts or collectors is unclear, but it has been put up for sale once before.
On 18 January, we wrote that in Artem, a rare Japanese limousine from 1979, the Nissan President, is for sale. For the model, which was discontinued but is well-preserved today, the owner is asking 860,002 rubles (approximately $8,600 at current rates).
