After the morning restrictions were lifted on the R-228 highway near Volgograd, traffic accidents occurred on the newly opened section.
Witnesses report two accidents involving trucks, which led to the formation of a truck jam.
The day before, on January 30, the highway was closed from the 512th to the 622nd kilometer due to bad weather. The restrictions were lifted today at 08:00 due to improved weather conditions.
At the entrance to Yerzovka (670-664 km of the R-228 highway), one truck veered into a ditch, likely due to heavy fog, and hit a pole.
On another section, after the turn to Yerzovka towards Dubovka, a truck and a store chain truck collided, after which a jam of similar vehicles formed.
According to a witness, «The truck in the ditch is not blocking the road, there are no jams. But just after the turn to Yerzovka, towards Dubovka, there are many trucks, one open, full of goods. In general, due to fog, there are many accidents on the highway.»
The circumstances of the incidents are currently being investigated, and information about possible casualties is being checked.
