On January 31, the Telegram channel «Head of the Transport Shop» disseminated information about increased control over city transport. The message is based on a statement by acting head of the transport committee Dmitry Vanchkov.
Dmitry Vanchkov said:
According to forecasters, stable cold will persist in St. Petersburg in the coming days, with air temperatures dropping to minus 20 degrees Celsius (-4°F) at night. Snowfalls are possible. To ensure comfortable movement around the city for residents and guests of St. Petersburg, our unit must ensure uninterrupted operation of city public transport.
To maintain uninterrupted movement, reserve rolling stock has been prepared and teams responsible for heating transport have been created. Emergency and technical services have been put on high alert.
Additionally, services at Pulkovo Airport have been mobilized to combat snow. Temperature control in trains and monitoring of platform cleaning quality have been organized.
