Murmansk Oblast faces -37 °C frost and strong winds on January 31

Forecasters advise dressing warmly due to expected frigid temperatures and icy conditions in Murmansk Oblast.
In Murmansk Oblast on January 31, cold and windy weather is expected. According to the Murmansk Hydrometeorological Service, significant precipitation is not forecast, but outdoor conditions will be challenging.
The wind will be southwesterly and westerly at 3–8 m/s. In the afternoon in the north of the region, gusts will locally increase to 15–16 m/s, with blowing snow possible. In some areas, fog and frost are expected.
Air temperatures at night and during the day in most areas will be -20…-25 °C (-4…-13 °F). In central and southern districts, thermometers will drop to -35…-37 °C (-31…-35 °F). It will be especially cold in the south of the Kola and Pechenga districts, in Apatity, the Kovdor and Lovozero districts, as well as in the west of the Kandalaksha district. During the day in the north of the region, temperatures will be -15…-20 °C (5…-4 °F). Icy conditions will persist on the roads.
