Forecasters Predict 14-Degree Temperature Rise in Novosibirsk

Frosts in Novosibirsk will weaken by the start of next week, with temperatures rising from -29°C (-20°F) to -14°C (7°F). This forecast was published on the website of the West Siberian UGMSS (West Siberian Hydrometeorological Service).

On Saturday, 24 January, Novosibirsk will be cloudy with clearings, mostly without precipitation. In the first half of the night, light snow is expected in some areas. At night and in the morning, there will be frost in some places, and on roads — black ice. Overnight temperatures are forecast at -25 to -27°C (-13 to -17°F) with a slight rise by morning, while daytime temperatures are promised at -18 to -20°C (0 to -4°F) with a slight drop by evening. The wind will be north-westerly, 3–8 m/s.

On Sunday, 25 January, the city will see light snow at night, and be mostly without precipitation during the day. Nighttime temperatures are expected to be -27 to -29°C (-17 to -20°F), and daytime temperatures will be -20 to -22°C (-4 to -8°F). The wind will be south-westerly, 2–7 m/s.

On Monday, 26 January, Novosibirsk will be mostly without precipitation. Overnight, temperatures are forecast at -25 to -27°C (-13 to -17°F) with a slight rise by morning, and during the day, temperatures are expected to be -15 to -17°C (5 to 1°F). The wind will be north-westerly, 2–7 m/s.

On 22 January, NGS reported that the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia published a forecast for temperature anomalies in February. In Novosibirsk Oblast, no extreme indicators are expected.
