Arkhangelsk Region Braces for Anomalously Cold Weather

Anomalously cold weather is expected in Arkhangelsk Region. The temperature will drop to -31°C (-24°F). The upcoming frosts were reported by forecasters from the Northern Hydrometeorological Center (UGMCS).

“From January 29 to February 2, 2026, in parts of Arkhangelsk Region, anomalously cold weather is expected with the average daily air temperature deviating from the climatic norm by 7 degrees or more towards cold,” said the hydrometeorological center.

Forecasters reported that on the morning of January 29, the temperature could drop to -31°C (-24°F). During the day, it will be warmer — -16 to -21°C (3 to -6°F).

According to the service “Yandex Weather”, the temperature in Arkhangelsk today will range from -14 to -9°C (7 to 16°F).

Earlier, forecasters had already reported that by mid-week, frosts would intensify.
