Pregnant Women in Saratov Region Nearly Stop Getting COVID-19

The Ministry of Health of the Saratov Region provided current data on the spread of coronavirus infection among pregnant women and children at a briefing today.
Since the start of the pandemic, 5,241 cases have been registered in the region among patients under the care of gynecologists, with 4,637 occurring during pregnancy. In January 2026, only 2 new cases were detected.
Throughout the pandemic, coronavirus infection has been diagnosed in 43,853 children under the age of 17, accounting for 12.1% of the total cases in the region. Of these, 3,478 children were under one year old.
Since the beginning of 2026, 42 cases of the disease have been registered among children, with 24 requiring hospitalization. Currently, specialized beds are deployed only at the Saratov Regional Infectious Clinical Hospital named after N.R. Ivanov.
As of January 22, there are 3 children with confirmed COVID-19 at the hospital, all diagnosed with acute respiratory infection (ARI). None are in intensive care, and no cases of pneumonia or gastroenteritis syndrome have been recorded.
