Bribes in Rostov Region doubled in size

The number of corruption crimes in the region increased by almost a quarter, while the average bribe size grew twofold, according to police data.

At a meeting of the Collegium of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Rostov Oblast, officials discussed the growth of corruption crimes, which over the year amounted to almost 25%.

The head of the directorate, Aleksandr Rechitsky, reported that the number of such crimes increased by 22.8%, reaching 656 cases.
“119 individuals have been brought to criminal responsibility for committing corruption crimes,” he stated.
The average bribe size during this period doubled, and the number of bribery incidents increased by 77%.
“The police have expanded the list and status of officials subject to appropriate checks under the law on compliance with anti-corruption legislation. The priority remains to control the use of funds allocated for national projects,” Rechitsky emphasized.
According to him, 23% of corruption crimes are linked specifically to the implementation of national projects.
“Protecting budget funds from criminal encroachment and preventing official crimes will remain among the priorities,” concluded the head of the directorate.
In 2025, Rostov Oblast saw high-profile corruption cases, including the trial of former regional court head Elena Zolotareva and her colleagues, as well as the conviction of former Deputy Governor Vitaly Kushnarev for bribery.
