Bribes Cost Twice as Much in Rostov Oblast

Law enforcement data shows a significant increase in bribe amounts and corruption cases in Rostov Oblast.
In Rostov Oblast, the number of corruption crimes has increased by almost a quarter. The average bribe amount is also rising. This topic was discussed in more detail at a meeting of the Collegium of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) Main Directorate for Rostov Oblast.

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs directorate presented annual findings on corruption and enforcement efforts.
The head of the directorate, Alexander Rechitsky, provided official data. The number of corruption crimes over the year increased by 22.8% and reached 656.
«119 individuals have been brought to criminal responsibility for committing corruption crimes,» said the head of the MVD directorate.
The size of bribes has doubled. The number of bribery incidents increased by 77%.
«The police have expanded the list and status of officials who are subject to relevant checks under the law on compliance with anti-corruption legislation. The priority direction remains the control over the use of funds allocated for national projects,» stated Alexander Rechitsky.
According to him, 23% of corruption crimes are specifically related to national projects.
«Protecting budget funds from criminal encroachments and preventing official crimes will remain among the priorities,» concluded the head of the MVD directorate.
