40-Degree Frosts to Strike Sverdlovsk Region

Meteorologists warn that another cold snap is coming to the Sverdlovsk region. Here«s what to expect from the weather in early February.
«The influence of the Scandinavian anticyclone is becoming more pronounced, its core is shifting eastward, towards the Northern Urals, bringing cooling to the northern parts of the region. On Sunday, the cooling will spread across the entire region. The front in the presence of the anticyclone will dissipate, and associated precipitation will weaken,» noted Alexey Pulin, author of the Telegram channel Weather in Yekaterinburg.
The Ural Hydrometeorological Center reported that the weather in the first week of February will be truly wintry:
«The Siberian anticyclone, which has spread cold continental air to the north of the European part, will persistently fight the Black Sea cyclones bringing warmth from the south. This will lead to frequent snowfalls and temperature fluctuations. On February 1, a ridge of the anticyclone will descend from Komi to Western Siberia, gradually covering the Sverdlovsk region with frosty air, the temperature will drop, in the extreme north of the region to a severe frost of -40°C (-40°F).»
