Yekaterinburg to get new traffic light intersection on busy street
A new intersection is slated for construction on a heavily trafficked Yekaterinburg avenue.
Another intersection will appear on Tavatuiskaya Street, one of the main thoroughfares in the Staraya Sortirovka district. It concerns the area where the «Depot» residential block is currently under construction, between Sortirovochnaya and Nadezhdinskaya streets. Future residents will need convenient access toward the city center or the Serovsky Highway. The project has been submitted for public hearings.
Traffic signals will be added at an intersection on Tavatuiskaya Street to manage flow.
Representatives from Brusnika, the developer building «Depot», explained the principles behind the new block«s road network and the need for this intersection.

«The street and road network was designed based on Yekaterinburg»s general development plan,« said a spokesperson from Brusnika. »The goal is to ensure optimal transport accessibility within the designed area between zones of different purposes, with other city districts, and with external highway networks.«

The street network in the «Depot» block will consist of two types of streets:
- Tavatuiskaya — a major street with regulated traffic;
- Pekhotintsev, Sortirovochnaya, and Novaya (working name) — local streets.
The roadway will be widened and sidewalks will be built on three local streets.
- The roadway width on Sortirovochnaya will be 7 meters, with sidewalks 2.25–5 meters;
- The roadway width on Pekhotintsev will be 8 meters, with sidewalks 3–5 meters;
- The roadway width on Novaya Street (working name) will be 7 meters, with sidewalks 2–4.7 meters.
It is specified that all three listed streets will be equipped with bicycle lanes. The implementation period for the new road network is from 2030 to 2045.
«Brusnika is designing Novaya Street, for Sortirovochnaya Street state expert review will be obtained, and the project will be handed over to the city,» summarized the developer«s press service.
Recall that the Yekaterinburg mayor«s office previously submitted another project for this area for public hearings. It proposed extending Nadezhdinskaya Street from Pekhotintsev to Tavatuiskaya and launching bus traffic along it.
Also, in this part of the city, the legendary «Pekhotinskoye Sea» was recently drained. This was the nickname for a huge puddle where cars used to get stuck.
