On one of the main thoroughfares of Yekaterinburg — Tavatuyskaya Street — a new intersection equipped with a traffic light will appear.

Its setup is linked to the construction of the residential quarter «Depo» on Staraya Sortirovka, between Sortirovochnaya and Nadezhdinskaya streets.

The project for the intersection, necessary for residents to exit to the city center and the Serovsky Tract, has already been put up for public hearings.

Representatives of the developer Brusnika explained that the quarter«s road network was developed in accordance with Yekaterinburg»s general plan.
«The street-road network was designed based on Yekaterinburg»s development general plan,« the press service of Brusnika said. »The goal of the solution is to ensure optimal transport accessibility within the designed territory between zones of various purposes, with other city districts and external network highways.«
In the «Depo» quarter system, the main Tavatuyskaya Street with regulated traffic will be designated, and three local streets: Pekhotintsev, Sortirovochnaya, and Novaya.
On these three streets, widening of the roadway and arrangement of sidewalks are planned. For example:
- on Sortirovochnaya, the roadway width will be 7 meters, sidewalks from 2.25 to 5 meters;
- on Pekhotintsev — 8 meters and 3–5 meters respectively;
- on Novaya Street — 7 meters and 2–4.7 meters.
All of them will be equipped with bike lanes. The implementation of these changes is scheduled for the period from 2030 to 2045.
Brusnika added that the company is designing Novaya Street, and for Sortirovochnaya, after receiving state expertise, the project will be handed over to the city.
Previously on this section, other initiatives were considered, including the extension of Nadezhdinskaya for bus traffic and the drainage of a large puddle known as the «Infantry Sea».
