Chain-Reaction Crash Involving Seven Cars in Yekaterinburg

On the morning of January 29, a chain-reaction collision occurred in the center of Yekaterinburg on Lenin Avenue, directly opposite the Polzunov College. Seven cars collided one after another, forming what is sometimes called a «train» of cars.
The precise causes and circumstances of the incident remain unclear. Traffic on Lenin Avenue has been partially blocked, and the situation is further complicated by ongoing snowfall.
One eyewitness commented on the road conditions in that area: «There»s always a problem there. Buses are stopped at the bus stop, and drivers in the right lane start to overtake them, squeezing into the middle lane without checking if they can merge.«
The Yekaterinburg State Traffic Inspectorate confirmed that their officers are working at the scene.
Another major traffic jam occurred on the Chelyabinsk highway, where two heavy-duty trucks completely blocked the roadway heading toward Yekaterinburg.
