Yekaterinburg residents outraged by call to cancel New Year's office parties

Readers of E1.RU insist that they maintain proper conduct during office holiday parties.
The chairman of the public movement «Orthodox Russia», Bryansk Oblast deputy Mikhail Ivanov, has called for abandoning New Year«s office parties, calling them a »hotbed of depravity«. According to Ivanov, the holiday should not become an occasion for shameful acts that destroy families and undermine the moral climate in teams.
After this statement, a debate erupted among our readers over whether it«s necessary to celebrate the holiday noisily with colleagues. Many Yekaterinburg residents were outraged by Ivanov»s statement.
«Don»t project your own mess-up at some office party onto all the office parties in the country,« writes our reader Vitaly.
«Apparently, there are no more problems in the region, everything has been solved by the end of the year, and all that»s left is to deal with office parties!!! Oh, well done!!!!« thinks a reader of E1.RU.
«And now some deputy wants to decide how I should behave at an office party. If I want to dance, I dance; if I want to lounge in the salad, I do that; and if I feel like it, I»ll even grope the accountant behind the scenes. That«s not his deputy»s business,« fumes a Yekaterinburg resident.
«Seems like he has a deep psychological trauma. Since he»s still fighting against them to this day. Or maybe it«s easier to cancel New Year? Then there won»t be any corporate events either,« writes Sergei.
«People talk about what hurts them! Don»t judge others by yourself! Apparently, that«s exactly how he celebrated in such companies himself,» shared reader Oksana.
«It seems that for a mature society, it»s much more useful to talk about normal safety rules than to wait each time for a new moralizing ban from another deputy who sees a complete «hotbed of debauchery» where people simply have a chance once a year to see colleagues not just in correspondence,« reflects our reader.
However, among Yekaterinburg residents, there are also those who support banning office parties.
«There is nothing more shameful than a woman making faces and an inadequate man demanding respect for himself,» shared Marina from sad experience.
«As an accountant, I»ll say that I avoid office parties. Almost all of us in accounting avoid them. Because geologists «do terrible things». The last and only time I was at an office party was about five years ago, and I won«t go again,» our reader recounted.
Earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) reported that Russians might greet the New Year with a fever due to a rise in flu cases, including the Hong Kong variant. In Sverdlovsk Oblast, 48,000 residents are already sick with ARVI and the flu.
