In Yaroslavl, a mobile network tuning project has been implemented. Work was carried out from March 2025 in all districts of the city — from the center to the outskirts and suburbs. The update of MegaFon«s telecom infrastructure affected new buildings in residential areas, hospitals, museums, shopping centers, industrial zones, and the historical center. Special attention was given to Yaroslavl»s main attractions — the Volga and Kotorosl embankments.
At the initial stage, specialists conducted tests and an audit of existing telecom equipment. This allowed them to identify areas requiring optimization. Next, engineers changed the azimuths and tilt angles of antennas, added boards, activated additional frequencies, and then configured radio parameters. The telecom equipment settings were adjusted taking into account the city«s architecture and landscape. As a result, network coverage area and download speeds increased.
New telecom facilities with a wide frequency spectrum were also installed in new buildings. This is necessary to ensure that network capacity is sufficient for both current residents of the new homes and future newcomers. The signal is available both outdoors and indoors.
— Over the past year, mobile internet consumption in Yaroslavl has grown by 15%. Given the increasing demand for connectivity, regular network modernization becomes a necessity. The installed equipment supports MIMO 4×4 technology: it can receive and transmit user data over four different channels. The development of new telecom infrastructure helps reduce the load on existing base stations, — said Sergey Timonin, the operator«s director in the Yaroslavl region.
