Novosibirsk Residents Share Job Search Struggles in 2025

Every week, the NGS.RU Telegram channel (if you haven«t subscribed yet, now is the time to do so) publishes hundreds of posts about what»s happening in Novosibirsk and the region. We collected the most interesting ones from the past week to show how these seven days unfolded.
Most Commented
Posts about HC «Sibir» gathered the most comments this week. And there«s a reason for that — the team lost 12 games in a row. At a press conference after the 11th game, the coach (now former) Vyacheslav Butsaev said that the athletes need to start working, and called the fans divisive elements.
After that, Yaroslav Lyuzenkov became the interim head coach. Previously, he was an assistant to Vyacheslav Butsaev.
With Yaroslav Lyuzenkov, HC «Sibir» played its 12th game against the capital«s »Dynamo«. It ended with a score of 2:3 in favor of the opponent, but fans noted that it was interesting to watch such a tense match.
Yaroslav Lyuzenkov added: the team«s management plans to improve the players» morale.
«There are different situations. When a team is in a psychological pit, that«s the most difficult thing. How to get them out of there is the most interesting question. We will think, we will communicate, find some motivational moments. We need to get out of this pit, but there are no hopeless situations — we rolled up our sleeves and moved forward», shared the interim head coach of »Sibir«.
And here«s what NGS readers think about all this:
«I«m a fan and I support the team in any period, of course, I want victories, beautiful and spectacular matches, but blaming only the coach for this is wrong», wrote Ekaterina.
«Only when you hit rock bottom does the desire to work appear, I know from myself. You«ll see, the whole team will now try hard. And anyway, it»s just a game, stop making a tragedy out of it, no one died. People are involved in sports, they don«t smoke, don»t drink. And stop counting salaries. If someone can play better, then let them come and make themselves known», shared Alexander.
«The remainder of the season should be dedicated to preparing the team for new challenges. Our beautiful “Arena” deserves to have a strong team playing there», added Igor.
Most Discussed
Also, NGS readers actively discussed a post about the difficulties of job hunting in 2025. As an example, they cited interviews where potential candidates cannot even find out the real conditions.
Here«s what Novosibirsk residents write about this:
«The job seekers themselves are to blame. Just six months to a year ago, the situation was that you couldn«t find anyone. More precisely, resumes are sent, but phones aren»t answered in 80% of cases. Those who did answer the phone, after arranging an interview, didn«t show up. As a result, I struggled like this for over a year, keeping salaries at 120 thousand rubles (approximately $1,300 at current rates). Some believed in themselves and ran after false promises, but were brought down to reality there. In the end, now I don»t remove vacancies, I monitor the market. I reduced the salary, thought there would be no responses, but no, they came in droves. But I«ve sworn off hiring 20-year-olds — nothing but problems, no substance», shared a reader.
«And with pre-retirees, it«s generally difficult. They immediately suggest you go home and think — whether you need to get a job here», noted Irina.
«Everywhere they write about a personnel shortage… I remember, I applied for a vacancy, they gave me the phone number of some girl who completely ignored my message. And the vacancy was published with enviable regularity», told Natalya.
«Either the salary is peanuts, or the schedule is brutal, or “we don«t take vacations”, or “we don»t pay salaries in the summer”, or they just ask about age and immediately refuse», complained Larisa.
«I haven«t been able to find people for 1.5 years. It»s difficult to work with former students: they don«t want to learn on the job, it»s hard for them to read legislation, there are no interested earners among them. Those with experience have other hang-ups. I tried to provide them with orders: sometimes too many, sometimes too few. Here, the problem is more in people«s heads, work is work, if you perform — bonuses, if you don»t — face the consequences», added Tatyana.
Most Reactions
A post stating that more than half of Russians are saving on food gathered hundreds of reactions. Judging by the results, many NGS readers also try not to buy extra, but there were those who deny themselves nothing.
«Prices have risen so much that we can buy even fewer products», complained Elena.
«I work as a cook. In 2022, I earned 160 rubles per hour, in 2023 — 200, in 2024 — 260, in 2025 — 300. So it«s really growing. From 23–26 to 50–55 thousand rubles (approximately $256–$611 at current rates) over 4 years. The same organization», shared Evgeny.
Most Forwarded
Most often, NGS readers forwarded a post about a new format store «Yarche!» opening in Novosibirsk — it will be a small-wholesale supermarket where you can buy goods individually or in large quantities: for example, a whole box.
In the cards, they told how a similar outlet looks and works in Tomsk.
Most Interesting
A new meat restaurant is opening in Novosibirsk — it will be a franchise of a well-known Moscow chain. The date and location are still unknown, but you can already learn about the concept: the establishment offers meat dishes for 350 rubles (approximately $4 at current rates).
