Former Deputy Construction Minister and Senior Construction Inspector Detained for Bribery in Stavropol Krai
Investigators reported the detention of the former deputy minister of construction and architecture of Stavropol Krai, as well as a senior inspector of state construction supervision. The officials entered into a criminal conspiracy. Their goal was to receive bribes from developers interested in quickly putting capital construction projects into operation.
According to the investigation, in December 2023, the suspects, well aware that without their signature the project in Yessentuki would not pass approval, demanded 300,000 rubles (approximately $3,000 at current rates) from the leadership of the construction company. The developer, fearing delays and losses, agreed. The money was given to the senior inspector, who in turn shared part of the sum with the former deputy minister.
16-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies During Competition in Stavropol Krai
On 3 November, during the final stage of the Stavropol Krai Motocross Championship in the village of Krasnogvardeyskaya, a tragedy occurred that shocked the entire sports region. A young rider from the Stavropol Motor Federation—Danil Shcherbakov, born in 2009—was allowed to participate.
During the mass start after a turn, the athlete fell and sustained serious injuries. The young man was immediately hospitalized, but despite the doctors« efforts, his injuries proved incompatible with life. In the hospital, in the intensive care unit, Danil died.
Stavropol Woman with Disabled Child Denied Entry to Georgia and Jailed
The woman«s husband told »Ostorozhno Novosti« that his wife and son were returning home from Ankara via Georgia. However, in Tbilisi, they were taken off the plane and put in a cell.
In Georgia, the mother and son planned to spend three days before returning home. The child«s father—Igor from Mineralnye Vody, a Stavropol resident—rented a hotel for them. He said that the mother and child were taken off the plane and put in a cell, where for the second day they are not given food and are told they will be deported to Turkey. Moreover, the woman is allegedly being insulted and treated rudely.
The man reported that in the morning, his wife stopped responding. Before that, she told him that she was denied entry to Georgia because her passport listed her place of birth as Crimea. According to Igor, he contacted the Russian embassy in Georgia, but they told him they could not help.
Schoolgirl from Nevinnomyssk Reaches Finals of «Brighter Than Stars» Show on Federal Channel and Wins 500,000 Rubles
A resident of Nevinnomyssk and student of School No. 2, Darya Safronova, participated in the «Brighter Than Stars» show on a federal channel. Bear Cub Hit in North Ossetian Mountains Being Treated in Stavropol Krai—Baby Has Broken Paw
A new guest at the «Pelikan» center in Stavropol Krai is a bear cub that was hit on a highway in the mountains of North Ossetia. The baby sustained a head injury, could not stand up on its own, but actively defended itself against people trying to help. Eventually, the animal was restrained and taken to a veterinary clinic, and then brought to our region.
At the veterinary clinic, the baby received first aid, had an X-ray, and was found to have fractures of the ulna and radius bones. In their Telegram channel, representatives of «Pelikan» said that the cub was first placed in a cage, but then moved to an enclosure.
The bear cub is gradually recovering. No plates were placed on its broken paw. Three weeks after the accident, another X-ray was taken—everything is healing excellently, and the bear is already actively using its paw. As reported by «Pelikan», the animal has every chance of returning to the wild before hibernation.
Child Dies in Stavropol Sanatorium: Investigative Committee Opens Criminal Case
The tragedy occurred on 17 October. A two-year-old girl was in a local children«s sanatorium. The institution specializes in respiratory diseases.
Investigators opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 109 of the Russian Criminal Code (causing death by negligence due to improper performance of professional duties).
What happened to the child has not been specified. An investigation is currently underway, and specialists are determining the circumstances of the tragedy.
