This weekend Kazan will celebrate Student«s Day with an ice rink party, a cringe party, and more. For those who prefer a more relaxed time, there are lectures, tours, and plays. We»ve compiled a list of events for the guide.
January 24, Saturday
Tour of the Cave Temple (Ages 0+)
Residents and guests of Kazan are invited to walk through the Museum of the Kazan Eparchy and admire its cave temple. Visitors will be able to see with their own eyes the icons, models, and other religious valuables stored there.

Lecture on Leonardo da Vinci at the National Library of Tatarstan (Ages 12+)
Who is the first person that comes to mind when you hear the name Leonardo? Probably Leonardo DiCaprio. However, after visiting the National Library of Tatarstan, your associations may change. The lecture «Leonardo da Vinci: The Great Genius of the Renaissance» will tell listeners about the great artist—creator of the «Mona Lisa»—and the scientist who was centuries ahead of his time.

Cringe Party at WERK Club (Ages 18+)
The bright and unusual CRINGE parties are returning to Kazan for Student«s Day. As always, guests can expect energetic DJ sets, vibrant looks, charismatic and funny artists, and the most unusual music selection. For the holiday, entry will be free for all students.

Musical Evening «Student Rhythms» (Ages 12+)
Foreign students from the preparatory department of KNITU-KAI, from China, Congo, Turkey, Angola, Serbia, Turkmenistan, Egypt, and Mozambique, will congratulate all Kazan students and invited viewers with vocal and poetic performances in different languages of the world.

Lecture «What We»re Up To in the Shadows: Practices of Knowledge Through the «Dark-»« (Ages 18+)
Blogger, PhD student at the Department of Social Philosophy of Kazan Federal University, and editor-in-chief of the media outlet «Kazan Mole» Ivan Rotov will help listeners understand the role of darkness and all things dark in history and mass culture, and why the color black can be synonymous with «enlightenment.» Perhaps this very lecture will provide the answer to why so many movie and book characters are drawn to the «dark side.»

Musical Lotto with a Stand-up Comedian (Ages 18+)
Fans of quizzes and team games are offered a new format this Saturday. Teams guess music and fill out bingo cards to the fun commentary of the host—a stand-up comedian. The winners will be those who manage to give the most correct answers. The best team will receive nice gifts.

Student Day at the «Trudovye Rezervy» Ice Rink (Ages 16+)
This year, the central venue for celebrating Student«s Day in Kazan will be the ice rink at the »Trudovye Rezervy« stadium. On the ice, there will be sports interactives and games, as well as ice skating dances to karaoke and flash mobs. The festive evening will conclude with a performance by the headliner—DJ Bubble Gum. With a student ID or passport, you can also rent skates for free.

Tour «Alone with History» (Ages 12+)
Lovers of a leisurely pace can spend this Sunday alone not only with themselves but also with the history of various eras. At the National Museum of Tatarstan, you can meet an ancient potter and a merchant from the Golden Horde, Queen Syuyumbike and Catherine the Great, soldiers of the Great Patriotic War, and other iconic historical figures. The immersive tour promises vivid emotions and complete immersion in the atmosphere of the past.

Dog Show at «Kazan Expo» (Ages 0+)
This weekend in Kazan, an event with the unusual name «Sabaneevka» will take place. This is an exhibition dedicated to the outstanding zoologist Leonid Sabaneev, who in 1872 organized the very first hunting dog show in Russia in St. Petersburg. On this occasion, «Kazan Expo» will present various breeds of hunting dogs with the best pedigrees and champion titles.

Concert «Guide to Musical Fairy Tales» (Ages 6+)

The program includes listening to: «At the Pike»s Command, or Emelya«s New Year Adventures,» «8 Folk Songs,» Tchaikovsky«s Symphony No. 2, the Trepak from the ballet »The Nutcracker,« and many others.

Immersive Play «Pettson and Findus. The Birthday Cake»
In the format of an engaging game, children will be told a story about the adventures of two heroes and invited to help them prepare a festive cake. As a reward at the end, children will have a home tea party with new friends—the old man Pettson and his beloved kitten Findus.

Play «Marya Moreva» at the Ekiiat Puppet Theater (Ages 6+)
On the stage of the puppet theater, a fascinating story will come to life about a warrior maiden and her beloved Prince Ivan, who will have to fight for their love in an uneven battle with the immortal Koschei. Along the way, young viewers, together with the heroes, will meet many magical fairy-tale creatures and learn a lot about Slavic mythology.
