Husband brutally murders wife over dinner dispute
Many people in Novoberezovsky cannot speak about the murder of 50-year-old Olga without tears. They hadn«t seen their neighbor since last weekend but didn»t realize that she had been dead since then. The woman was brutally murdered by her husband, with whom she had been married for ten years.
The family wasn«t considered ideal, but from the outside, it seemed they had no serious conflicts, so the news of the murder shocked everyone who knew the couple. Always quiet and calm, Rafis stabbed his wife to death and then attempted to dismember her body. Here»s what is known about this tragedy.
«Killed and put in the shed»
The couple married in 2015. Rafis Khuzin posted happy wedding photos on his page. At the celebration were his daughter from his first marriage and Olga«s adult son from previous relationships.
«His daughter used to come here before, but Olga didn«t accept her, their relationship didn»t work out, she now lives her own life somewhere in the region, but in another city», — said a neighbor of Rafis and Olga.
The couple had no children together. They married when both were over 40. Rafis worked as a driver, delivering goods in a Gazelle van, and Olga worked part-time as a cleaner. However, none of the neighbors know exactly where she cleaned.
Locals say that Rafis was so unsociable that he didn«t even greet his neighbors. His wife, on the contrary, was always friendly and cheerful. Also, Olga liked to drink and often returned home barely able to stand.
«I helped her cross the road a couple of times: she«d come from the store, swaying, very drunk, and there»s the roadway right there. Once I was leading her, her husband rushed out to meet her, scolding. I told him: “Just don«t hit her.” Socially, they were somewhat established, but otherwise not very educated, he never greeted anyone. They drank», — said Vera Mikhailovna, the street elder.
On the day of the tragedy, no one heard any screams from Olga or her husband. Even the neighbors who live in the same house, designed for two families, had no idea that something terrible had happened behind the wall.
Conflict over dinner
According to the investigation, the reason for the murder was an ordinary domestic quarrel. The wife came home and started a scandal with her husband because dinner wasn«t prepared. Rafis took a kitchen knife and stabbed his wife several times. She died from her injuries.
«He killed her, put her in the shed, she lay there for four days. Then he skinned her, dismembered her, and buried her in the garden on his plot. Her friend was the first to raise the alarm», — Vera Mikhailovna said with tears in her eyes.
Olga had arranged with a friend to go to the city together, but on the appointed day she suddenly disappeared, her phone was turned off. Neighbors saw that in the 20s of October, a woman came to the couple«s house and knocked on the doors. They are sure that it was after her visit that Rafis decided to turn himself in. Before going to the police, he called his brother and told him what he had done.
«On October 25, he called and said: “I killed Olga, and I«ve called the police, they»re already on their way for me.” Then he hung up and turned off his phone», — said Rashit, Rafis«s brother.
According to his brother, Rafis never had any friends, he was withdrawn and calm since childhood. Relatives didn«t notice him behaving aggressively. Except when he drank, he could start a scandal with his wife.
«They never had any fights. They«d just argue, shout, and that»s it. And here, I don«t know what came over whom. What could come over him like that, you wouldn»t even believe it. Well, it happened, now there«s nothing to be done», — said the accused»s brother.
During interrogation, Rafis said that he was drunk that day. After stabbing his wife to death, he tried to dismember her but couldn«t and hid the body.
«During the inspection of the private house where the domestic tragedy occurred due to excessive alcohol consumption of 0.7 liters, a burned mobile phone of the wife and other important evidence were found in the stove. At the same time, the home was tidy, no one would have thought that such an emergency had happened here», — said Valery Gorelykh, head of the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Sverdlovsk Oblast.
«The Bad Little Apartment»
The house of Rafis and Olga, where the tragedy occurred, from the outside resembles an abandoned unfinished building. Neighbors say that the head of the family started a major renovation six years ago and was slowly remodeling the old wooden hut they moved into with his wife.
«He«s quite a handy man. He restored everything from scratch, changed the floors and ceilings. And he did everything himself, didn»t even ask anyone for help», — said a neighbor of the family.
The beams that were also supposed to be used for finishing the house remained lying in the yard: 56-year-old Rafis has been detained. Soon, the court is to determine his pretrial restraint measure.
And neighbors whisper that there is an element of mysticism in this cruel tragedy.
«Their house is a bad little apartment; remember, like in Bulgakov? I don«t know how they got this house, but this is already the third murder in it, — said local pensioner Vera Mikhailovna. — The first was a long time ago. The second was before they moved in, around New Year»s, neighbor Tolya was killed, my husband was called there as a witness. And now again, murder.»
Investigators said that Rafis Khuzin has already been charged with murdering his wife. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
