As Magnit told, the first ramen bars are located in the chain«s supermarkets at 64 Semyi Shamshinykh Street and 51 Gogol Street.

«This is a unique format for retail, operating on a self-service principle: various types of noodles and toppings in individual packages are placed on special displays, the customer selects the ingredients, pays for the order, and prepares the dish in a ramen cooker,» the company said.

The toppings (egg, meat, mushrooms, and so on) will be prepared at Magnit«s own production facility in Novosibirsk. In addition to instant noodles, the ramen bar will offer soft drinks, snacks, and ready-made dishes (for example, onigiri).

The ramen bar format is already known in Novosibirsk, but so far only individual establishments operate in it. In particular, one of them opened last year in the city center, on Krasny Prospekt. Magnit«s main competitor, the Pyaterochka chain, is developing it in its own way. In the second half of last year, advertisements appeared in Novosibirsk supermarkets stating that any instant noodles could be brewed in the store using boiling water from a coffee machine.

The emergence of ramen bars is part of a larger trend of retail expansion into the food service sector. In the same Magnit, the areas with noodles and ramen cookers are located next to snack bars offering hot dogs, nuggets, and other street food.
