Domodedovo's only buyer: 'It's not worth that much'

The auction for the sale of Domodedovo Airport did not take place. The only bidder was 34-year-old individual entrepreneur Evgeny Bogaty, who was not allowed to participate. The starting price was over 132 billion rubles (approximately $1.5 billion at current rates).
We contacted the only potential buyer of Domodedovo to find out about his plans for the airport«s development.
«I just wanted to submit an application so everyone could see that anyone can take part in the auction,» Evgeny Bogaty told MSK1.RU journalists.
The entrepreneur also stated that, in his opinion, the price of Domodedovo Airport is greatly inflated.
«No one will buy it for that kind of money, it«s not worth that much,» he said, adding that his main line of business is real estate transactions, as well as participation in auctions and tenders.
Moscow«s Domodedovo Airport is one of the largest in Eastern Europe and is a member of Airports Council International (ACI). Its partners, 27 airlines, have created an extensive flight network for convenient connections. They fly to approximately 92 destinations, 15 of which are unique and served only here. In 2024, the airport handled 15.6 million passengers.
Moreover, Bogaty admitted that he does not have 132 billion rubles (approximately $1.5 billion at current rates) to buy Domodedovo.
«But if necessary, I would have found [that amount]. To be honest, I don«t even know what I would do with this airport if the auction had taken place,» the entrepreneur clarified.
We have previously reported what else Evgeny Bogaty has earned money from. For example, he supplied unmanned aerial vehicles to the administration of Bratsk and sold thermal imaging cameras to government structures in various regions.
Domodedovo is being sold after it was confiscated as state revenue. The airport«s debt is almost 70 billion rubles (approximately $780 million at current rates). We have already reported who else besides Evgeny Bogaty could buy this asset and what this means for ordinary passengers.
