Teacher's anti-Russian film from Karabash earns Oscar nomination

The film «Mr. Nobody Against Putin» has been included in the shortlist for the Oscar award in the full-length documentary category.
The film was secretly shot by Pavel Talankin, who worked as a teacher at School No. 1 in Karabash, after which he resigned and left the country.
The picture caused dissatisfaction among the city«s residents.
The awarding of the world«s main film prize will take place on March 15 in the USA.
Exactly one year ago, Pavel Talankin became the subject of publications in The Guardian and Variety.
He attracted attention by creating the film together with American director David Borenstein within the walls of the Karabash school.
According to the authors, the filming took place under conditions of strict secrecy.
The premiere of the film first took place in the USA, and then it was shown in Europe.
The teacher left the Southern Urals, while his relatives remained in Karabash, which raised concerns among townspeople about possible retaliation against the family.
Parents of students and other residents of Karabash expressed a negative attitude towards what they saw.
