T-90 Tank Co-Creator Dies After 66-Year Career

Nikolai Molodnyakov, a designer and one of the creators of the T-90 tank, has died at the age of 88. He worked for 66 years at the Uralvagonzavod plant.

At the age of 88, designer and one of the creators of the T-90 tank Nikolai Molodnyakov has died. He passed away on January 27. This was reported by the press service of Uralvagonzavod. At this enterprise, he worked for 66 years, rising from research engineer to deputy chief designer.

«His work is inextricably linked with the creation, adoption for service, and modernization of the legendary T-72 and T-90 tank families, which form the backbone of the country»s armored forces. The bright memory of Nikolai Alexandrovich Molodnyakov will forever remain in the hearts of colleagues, family, and loved ones, and in the history of domestic tank building,« it is stated in the obituary.
Nikolai Alexandrovich Molodnyakov was born on August 19, 1937, in the settlement of Semenovsky in Gorky (Nizhny Novgorod) Region. He received higher education at the Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute.
Under his leadership, a whole generation of new personnel grew in the design bureau for transport engineering (UKBTM). Also, Nikolai Alexandrovich was actively engaged in scientific and pedagogical activities, became the author of over 120 scientific works, and for a long time headed examination commissions at specialized educational institutions.
