In all districts of Sochi, cultural and educational events are being held dedicated to Russia«s Day of Military Glory — the 82nd anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the blockade.

Thematic classes, homeroom hours, and courage lessons have taken place in educational institutions. Lecture halls, film screenings, and open readings are being held in cultural centers and libraries. One of the main actions held annually in Russia on the anniversary of the lifting of the blockade is «Siege Bread».

Participants are told about the blockade, the «Road of Life» across Lake Ladoga, and, as an example of hardship, about the bread ration of 125 grams. That is exactly how much Leningraders received per day during the most difficult period — the winter of 1941–1942. Today, volunteers distributed slices of bread in all districts of Sochi: at Flag Square, in the Lazarevsky district on Partizanskaya Street, on the square in front of the Komsomolets cinema in Adler, and near the Luch creative center in Khosta. Points for the action were also set up near cultural centers and libraries where thematic events were held.

— At the Youth House, a reading of the play «Diaries of a Ballerina» took place, based on the book «Dancing Under Shelling: Diaries of Artists of the Kirov Theater 1941–1944 from Besieged Leningrad.» Participants told the audience how art became a symbol of hope and resilience even during the most terrible days of the blockade. Also, together with military personnel and representatives of the Sochi branch of the Russian Military-Historical Society, candles of Memory were delivered to military graves today as a symbol of respect for the feat of soldiers and the courage of the siege survivors,« said Sergei Cheremshanov, head of the youth policy department of the Sochi administration.
