Several Categories of Russians to Retire Early in 2026

In 2026, several categories of Russian citizens can retire early. We explain who is eligible and how to get their well-deserved rest.
Long Work Experience
To retire two years early, one must have a long work history. For men — this is 42 years of work, for women — 37 years. At the same time, the man must be at least 62 years old, the woman — 57 years old.
Insurance period — is the total duration of periods of work when insurance contributions were paid for the employee to form a pension.
Special experience — is the total duration of periods of work in certain professions, positions, or working conditions that grant the right to early old-age pension.
Individual Pension Coefficient (IPC) — is a key indicator that determines the amount of future insurance pension. It reflects the sum of all accumulated pension points over the years of work. Each year, the employer makes insurance contributions for you. The higher the «white» salary, the more points you receive. To qualify for early pension, the IPC must be at least 30.
Raising Children
Mothers have the right to early pension. Upon the birth of 2 or more children, women can apply for pension at age 50, if:
they have worked for at least 12 years in the Far North regions or at least 17 years in areas equated to them;
they have an insurance period of at least 20 years.
Mothers of many children, whose all children have reached the age of 8, can retire with at least 15 years of experience. They can apply for pension:
at age 57, if they gave birth to and raised 3 children;
at age 56 — 4 children;
at age 50 — 5 or more children.
Heavy and Hazardous Work, Special Professions
Russians whose work involves heavy working conditions also have access to early pension. With the necessary special experience, men can retire at 50, and women — at 45.
There are other professions that allow early retirement. For teachers, this is available after 25 years of professional experience, for medical workers — after 30 years of work in the city and 25 years — in rural areas. Similar conditions exist for artists, military personnel, and pilots.
Unemployed Pre-Pensioners
Citizens who lost their job two years before retirement through no fault of their own, for example due to staff reduction, can obtain the right to early pension through the employment service. In 2026, pre-pensioner status is assigned to women from age 54 and men from age 59. But this is only available with 30 pension points and 20 years of experience for women, 25 years of experience — for men.
Workers of the Far North
To retire early under this condition, it is necessary to have worked in the Far North regions for 15 years or in areas equated to them for 20 years. In this case, men can retire at 59, and women — at 54.
