On the territory of the Tsarskoye Selo museum-reserve in Pushkin, MTS has updated the communication infrastructure. Additional 2G and 4G base stations have increased the coverage area and network throughput, and LTE internet speed has grown by approximately 1.5 times.
The improvements have affected both indoor spaces and open areas of the palace-park ensemble. A stable signal is now available in the state rooms of the Catherine Palace, its inner courtyard, as well as on the garden plots, in the pavilions and galleries of the Catherine and Alexander Parks. On average, mobile internet speed on the territory has increased by 60%.
To ensure stable communication, specialists used equipment operating in the 1800 and 2100 MHz bands. This solution guarantees a quality signal inside historical buildings and along walking routes near ponds and canals. The installation of base stations was carried out taking into account the architectural features of the museum complex.
The enhancement of LTE coverage is aimed at museum staff and numerous tourists. Visitors and residents of St. Petersburg will be able to freely use mobile internet during tours, quickly share photos, and stay connected throughout the entire area of the ensemble.
Alexander Solovenchuk, director of MTS in St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast, noted that Tsarskoye Selo hosts millions of guests annually, and working with historical objects requires a special approach. «Installing equipment in buildings with thick ceilings and complex structures is a challenging engineering task. As a result, the network is prepared for peak loads, and data transfer speeds reach 140 Mbps,» he said.
