Moscow woman vanishes in Turkey after secret escape with son
A 32-year-old Moscow woman disappeared in Turkey under mysterious circumstances. Daria Luchkina told her parents that she went with her 10-year-old son to a corporate event and vanished. The search by her parents and law enforcement led to Istanbul. The young woman flew there in secret from her close ones. But what happened to her and her son is unknown — their trail ended after arrival, when the mother and boy got into a private car at the airport.
Why did she go to Turkey, where she had never been before? Why did the search become known only a month later? MSK1.RU was told about this by the mother of the missing girl.
Vanished without a trace, taking a few bags
On Friday, 17 October, Daria Luchkina told her father that she was going to a corporate event. The young woman stated that all colleagues would go to the celebration with their children, took with her passports, a child«s backpack, a woman»s bag, a package, and her son Sasha (the child«s name has been changed at the request of legislation. — Ed.).
«It was Friday, such good autumn weather. I was going to the hospital for a certificate,» Olga, the girl»s mother, tells MSK1.RU. «Sasha was supposed to come from school. I told her: “Take the child, go for a walk, the weather is wonderful.” She answered: “We«ll see.”»
When Olga returned from the hospital, her daughter and grandson were no longer at home. The woman«s husband said they had left for the celebration.
«I think, what kind of corporate event involves children?» noted the mother of the missing woman.
When Daria did not return, her parents thought she might have stayed over at someone»s place. But when the young woman«s phone became «unavailable», the family raised the alarm.
«On Monday, 20 October, I went to the police and filed a report,» the woman explains. «I said: “A woman has disappeared with a child.” They told me, well, she probably made a surprise for her son, took him away. But what kind of surprise? Not to tell us and not even call? As it turned out, they didn»t even open a case, they just registered my appeal.»
The young woman worked as an accounting assistant at a construction company, spent whole days at the computer filling out invoices. She had a secondary specialized education, having graduated from a business college, and before that she worked at a grocery warehouse. In the evenings, Daria spent time watching series.
«It«s true that she loved Turkish series. But many people love them. She watched the series “Magnificent Century” a lot,» Olga recalls in a conversation with MSK1.RU. «I told her, like, it»s already getting boring, let«s watch some good movie.»
“Magnificent Century” is a Turkish series that tells about the reign of Sultan Suleiman during the Ottoman Empire period. At the center of the plot are the relationships of one of his concubines of Slavic origin, Alexandra, who converted to Islam and took the name Hurrem.
Daria moved out from her parents several times: she rented an apartment in Khimki and took the child with her. According to her mother, there were no serious quarrels in the family, the young woman just wanted to live separately, «to be her own boss».
«She works, saves up some money and then rents an apartment. And then either problems with work, layoffs, or just the money runs out. When it became very difficult, she returned. I understand, she wants to be the mistress herself,» Olga explains. «But we always waited for her. I told her that here we have the school nearby. And if she wants to go out, we can always sit with the child.»
«I ordered a gift for my grandson — a tablet. I gave it to her, I say: “Let«s hide it, and you»ll get it out for him before school. He«ll be very happy.” She answered me so indifferently: “Okay.” My heart just sank,» the mother shares. «Usually Dasha reacted differently, she said: “Oh, great! Cool, let»s do it!” But here I even thought she didn«t like the gift.»
Another strange coincidence that relatives remembered only after what happened — suspicious walks with her son «on business». Now the mother is sure that Daria took the child to the Multifunctional Center to apply for a passport. At the same time, she did not tell anyone about plans to go on vacation.
«She herself only traveled around Russia, loved to go to her grandmother on Lake Onega, we have many relatives there. And she was abroad last about 10 years ago — in Egypt on a tour,» the woman says. «Her own passport was expired. She had never been to Turkey before this, but she wanted to. I once offered to go, but it didn«t lead to anything.»
Left for a better life or kidnapped to Syria?
According to information the family received from law enforcement, Daria bought plane tickets to Istanbul back in September. That«s when the mother began to notice strangeness in her daughter»s behavior.
According to the mother, they filed a report not only with the police but also contacted the consulate. Now they are in touch with a volunteer from Turkey, where a search has been announced for the Moscow woman.
At the moment, it is known that Daria left the airport in a private car. The further fate of the young woman and her son is unknown.
«We were informed that she crossed the border with Turkey. But what happened next — it«s unclear. This is definitely not a transit flight, she left the airport by car,» a friend of the young woman told MSK1.RU.
The family has various assumptions. Up to the point that the young woman could have been taken away by car to Syria. «Different versions in my head. I don»t even want to think about it,» the man said.
Daria«s mother suggests that she might have fallen under someone»s influence and left for a better life: «I«ve gone through everything… Maybe she found someone, wanted to change something. I really hope everything is fine…»
Earlier, another Russian woman, Irina, left her child in a Turkish hotel and disappeared without a trace. Her search led to the body of an unknown woman. Jewelry belonging to the Russian woman was found on the corpse.
