Mashyanka Bakery Sends Pastry Basket to Trump Envoy Amid VAT Issues
At the Mashyanka bakery in the Moscow region, which gained fame after a direct line with the Russian president, a gift is being prepared for U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff. In the evening, he has a meeting scheduled with Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.
MSK1.RU has obtained a video showing the assortment of pastries planned to be sent to Witkoff. In a wicker basket bound for the Kremlin, there will be an apple pie, Red Velvet cookies, chocolate brownies, and cupcakes.
Mashyanka gained widespread recognition thanks to the direct line with the president. On behalf of all entrepreneurs, bakery owner Denis Maksimov asked Vladimir Putin a question about switching from the patent tax system to VAT for small businesses. Responding to the resident of Lyubertsy, the president asked him to send products for tasting. In return, Putin sent him gifts—an icon and wine.
A month after the direct line, it became known that Mashyanka might only survive until May. After the introduction of new laws for small businesses, which came into force at the beginning of January, the bakery«s tax burden increased 50-fold and became unsustainable for the owners. Now, support for the bakery owner is being provided by officials at the regional and federal levels.
Recall that the visit of the U.S. special envoy became known on January 21. According to Witkoff«s statement, negotiations to settle the conflict in Ukraine are in the final stage. On January 22, journalists from the Kremlin pool confirmed that Putin is preparing for a meeting with the special envoy. It is reported that the conversation will begin after 7 p.m. and promises to be long.
Everything known about the upcoming meeting was covered in a separate article.
