Major system failure hits Aeroflot, grounding website and refunds

Aeroflot reported a major failure in its booking system, limiting key passenger services.
On Monday, 26 January, a global failure occurred in the systems of Aeroflot. The carrier stated that the problems arose in the Leonardo booking system (Sirena-Travel).

The carrier«s website currently does not allow passengers to select flight destinations.
Leonardo is a domestic air ticket booking system developed by the corporations Sirena Travel and Rostech. This system is used by the airlines Aeroflot, Rossiya, Pobeda, Ural Airlines, and Red Wings.
The airline«s press service reported: »Temporarily limited are passenger and baggage check-in, ticketing, reissuing, and refunds of tickets and additional services in all sales channels of the airline (website, contact center, agents). Schedule adjustments are possible.«
«The site isn»t working, and tickets aren«t being refunded,» complained one passenger.
Aeroflot also clarified that measures are being taken to restore the system«s normal operation as soon as possible.
Recall that this is not the first major failure in the airline«s booking system. In the summer of 2025, due to the same problem, the carrier reported forced adjustments to the flight schedule and warned passengers about possible disruptions in online services. We covered this in more detail in a separate story.
