Injured Transbaikalian soldier saves trapped comrade in special op
A soldier from a repair battalion rescued a comrade who was pinned in a vehicle after an enemy drone attack during the special military operation.
Maxim Stupenkov, a soldier from a repair and recovery battalion, sustained a severe concussion and burns after a UAV attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but managed to save a comrade trapped in a car, according to his relatives reported by Chita.Ru. The press service of the Eastern Military District confirmed the information.
«For Maxim and his partner, a routine trip to repair equipment turned into a true test of spiritual strength. Faced with the threat of an enemy UAV, the warriors showed determination, trying to move the equipment out of harm»s way. After sustaining a severe concussion and multiple burns, Stupenkov did not succumb to panic or pain shock. In a critical situation, when fire was already approaching the fuel tank, he demonstrated true self-sacrifice. Seeing that his comrade was trapped by the mangled structures of the underbody, the soldier, with bare hands, overcoming the heat and smoke, freed his friend from the iron prison,« the message states.
The serviceman provided assistance to his partner and supported him until reinforcements arrived.
