Authorities plan to include medical services for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in the so-called «white list» of internet resources. As stated by the head of the Russian Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, at a meeting with Vladimir Putin on January 21, this should happen in the first quarter of 2026.
This refers to applications that help people with diabetes monitor blood glucose levels. Data from special sensors is transmitted to smartphones in real-time, which is critical for managing the condition and timely medication.
The innovation guarantees the operation of these vital systems even during disruptions or restrictions in mobile communication. «Users will be able to continue using this service in such cases,» the minister explained.
The initiative was a response to an appeal from parents of children suffering from diabetes. They had previously appealed to the authorities to ensure uninterrupted operation of monitoring systems.
The «white list» is a list of resources that should remain accessible under any circumstances. For patients with chronic diseases, stable connection to such services is a matter of safety. In case of problems with mobile internet, there are other alternatives:
- connection to home internet,
- use of public Wi-Fi points.
