Divers to Inspect Vessels from Foreign Ports in Murmansk

The new protocol involves divers checking the underwater sections of vessels arriving from international ports.
In the Murmansk region, security measures in the Barents Sea area continue to be strengthened. This issue was discussed in detail at the Maritime Council, which was held last week.
«The focus is on vessels entering Murmansk from foreign ports. Given the increased risks of sabotage, it is fundamentally important that the underwater part of such vessels undergoes mandatory inspection by divers. This is a basic, necessary security measure,» said Murmansk Region Governor Andrey Chibis.
Together with representatives of law enforcement agencies, the Murmansk Sea Trade Port, and the Port of Murmansk, possible locations for inspections have already been determined, as well as points for placing a special floating base.
In addition, additional steps to protect the Kola Bay were discussed. Among them are the installation of surveillance cameras and enhanced control in key zones.
Recall that the Northern Fleet will create mobile units to protect the Arctic from underwater sabotage.
