Airlines hit by major booking system failure, passengers face delays

On Monday, January 26, a massive failure occurred in the Leonardo ticket booking system. Because of this, several airlines immediately announced that temporary restrictions have been introduced for passenger check-in and baggage handling.

Leonardo is a domestic airline ticket booking system developed by the corporations Sirena Travel and Rostec. Airlines using this system include Aeroflot, Rossiya, Pobeda, Ural Airlines, and Red Wings.
Issues have been recorded at Aeroflot, Pobeda, Ural Airlines, Utair, Red Wings, Aurora, RusLine, Yamal, Alrosa, Izhavia, and other air carriers.
On some airline websites, it is currently impossible to book a ticket or select a flight destination. Therefore, passenger check-in at airports is being done manually.
According to the online board at Sheremetyevo Airport, against the backdrop of the massive failure at Leonardo, several departure flights are delayed. Among them: DP 6861 to Saratov, SU 6515 to St. Petersburg, SU 1710 to Khabarovsk.
Due to the global failure, announcements have started in airports over loudspeakers warning passengers about issues with flight check-in.
Rostec (a state corporation that, together with the company Sirena, developed the booking system Leonardo. — Ed.) told Kommersant that the issues have been recorded on the side of the provider company Sirena Travel.
«An operational headquarters has been created to restore the system»s functionality together with PJSC Aeroflot and other airlines, involving a large number of developers and specialists from Sirena-Travel,« the company told the publication.
Sources from TASS and RIA Novosti clarified that the work of Leonardo will be restored in the near future.
Due to the failure in the airline ticket booking system, the Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor«s Office is conducting oversight activities in the capital»s airports.
Updated January 26, 2026, 17:47. The Russian Ministry of Transport reported that the Leonardo booking system has been restored.
«The temporary failure in its operation has affected the flight schedule of air transport, and there are flight cancellations,» the department said.
Recall that this is not the first massive failure in the airline booking system. In the summer of 2025, due to the same problem, the carrier reported a forced adjustment of flight schedules and warned passengers about possible disruptions in online services.
