Residents of Yaroslavl have been warned of anomalously cold weather at the end of January. The warning was issued on the evening of January 28 by the Ministry of Regional Security, the mayor«s office, EMERCOM (Ministry of Emergency Situations), and via SMS from RSCHS.
«An anomalously cold weather is expected with average daily air temperatures 7-12 degrees below the climatic norm,» the forecast stated.
Earlier, specialists from the Fobos center explained: an active cyclone is affecting the weather in the region, which brought snowfalls to Central Russia.
According to the forecast from the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, by the end of January in Yaroslavl Oblast, temperatures will range from -10°C (14°F) to -22°C (-8°F).
On January 29 during the day, a cooling to -12°C (10°F) is expected, with light wind. On Friday, January 30, -14°C (7°F) is forecast. And by the weekend, January 31 and February 1, it will cool to -16…-18°C (3…0°F) during the day and -20…-22°C (-4…-8°F) at night. Snowfalls will begin.
On Monday, February 2, -12°C (10°F) and snow during the day, -18°C (0°F) at night are forecast.
In cold weather, according to EMERCOM, the threat of fires in the residential sector and healthcare facilities increases, and there may be breaks in power lines and communication lines, disruptions in all types of transport, and an increase in cases of hypothermia.
