Warmth to Slowly Arrive in the Urals

According to the forecast by Alexey Pulin, author of the Telegram channel «Weather in Yekaterinburg,» the next seven days in the region will be moderately cold.
«On Monday, Sverdlovsk Oblast will still be located on the northern periphery of a ridge of high atmospheric pressure, connecting the anticyclone over the Volga region with the Siberian High. An arctic air mass will still be present in the region,» the meteorologist noted.
Warmth will advance into the Urals slowly. Its peak is forecast for Thursday and Friday, after which another cold wave will follow. Additionally, forecasters promise the return of snowfall to the oblast.

The current January in Sverdlovsk Oblast is characterized as anomalously cold. Thermometers dropped below -30 degrees Celsius (-22°F), and in the north of the region, frosts of over -40°C (-40°F) were recorded. Due to extreme temperatures, some schoolchildren were switched to remote learning, and the streets of Yekaterinburg noticeably emptied.
