Warming to -5°C forecast for January 29 in Primorye

On Thursday, January 29, there will be no precipitation in the Primorye region, but snowpack and black ice will form on roads in some areas. Forecasters from Primhydromet (the Primorye Hydrometeorological Center) predict nighttime temperatures around -27...-33°C (-17...-27°F) in central areas, -15...-20°C (5...-4°F) on the coast, and -22...-27°C (-8...-17°F) in the rest of the region.

During the day, the region will warm up noticeably—temperatures will rise to -5...-10°C (23...14°F) on the coast and to -11...-16°C (12...3°F) in other areas. There will be almost no precipitation throughout the day.

In Vladivostok, it will be cloudy but without snow or rain. The north wind will be moderate at first but will gain strength to become strong during the day. The air temperature at night will be -17...-19°C (1...-2°F), warming to -11...-13°C (12...9°F) during the day.

In Ussuriysk, variable cloudiness is expected, also mostly without precipitation. The wind will not be bothersome throughout the day, but temperatures will vary significantly between day and night: from -25...-27°C (-13...-17°F) to -10...-12°C (14...10°F).

In Nakhodka, a moderate north and north-west wind will blow, and slight cloudiness is forecast. Temperatures will be relatively warm: nighttime is forecast at -16...-18°C (3...0°F), rising to -9...-11°C (16...12°F) during the day.

On January 28, we wrote that residents of Vladivostok and the Primorye region can expect a brief weakening of the frost in early February. According to forecasters, on February 3, air temperatures in the south of the region may approach the zero mark, making Tuesday the warmest day of the month«s first ten days.
