In Udmurtia (a republic in Russia), overnight from January 22 to 23, the temperature dropped below -38°C (-36°F). This was reported by the press service of the regional Hydrometeorological Center.
All week, residents of Udmurtia were told that frosty weather was coming. Some did not believe the forecasters« predictions, while others were fully preparing for the cold. And now, »that very« day has arrived. In some parts of the republic, the temperature fell to -35°C (-31°F) and below, while in other places, the thermometer did not even reach -30°C (-22°F).
The record holders for cold overnight from January 22 to 23 were Debessy and Glazov. It cooled down to -38.5°C (-37°F) and -36.8°C (-34°F) respectively. And in Izhevsk, on the contrary, no weather anomalies were recorded. According to the city weather station, the temperature only dropped to -26.5°C (-16°F)–-27.1°C (-17°F).
However, possibly, the next night in the capital of Udmurtia will be truly frosty. According to forecasters« predictions, overnight from January 23 to 24, temperatures of -30°C (-22°F)–-39°C (-38°F) are expected in the republic.
From Sunday, January 25, the temperature in the region will begin to gradually rise.
