Sochi urges caution amid heavy mountain snowfall

Meteorologists have warned that a very heavy snowfall is expected in the high mountains of Sochi by the end of the day on February 1. The amount of precipitation could be 20-25 mm.

Additionally, until February 2, avalanche danger persists in the mountains at altitudes above 1000 meters above sea level. At elevations above 500 meters above sea level, there is a low avalanche danger.

All services are operating in enhanced mode. The city«s operational headquarters is monitoring the situation.

Residents and visitors of the resort are advised to be extremely cautious and, if possible, refrain from trips to mountain areas using personal vehicles, giving priority to public transport, writes the mayor«s press service. In case of emergency, one should call the unified emergency number 112.
